Rejection and Knowing Who You are in Christ

Rejection and Knowing Who You are in Christ

After spending a lot of time with people and hearing about their struggles, I noticed a common theme, fear of rejection.

Being rejected at work, at home, by a friend or loved one or maybe even serving at church.

I think a good place to start would be, Identity. Who are you?

Most of us would base our identity on what our family, co-workers or friends think of us, or maybe our current situation or even our past.

Have you ever asked God what he thinks of you? Dont you think that matters?

If we choose to base our identity on something or someone other than what God has to say, we make ourselves vulnerable to the negative effects of rejection.

The devil is a liar! He will use anything to get in..."You're not worth it" "You're not qualified" "You're not strong enough"

If you CHOOSE to stand on Gods word, the enemy has no power.

When you have those times of weakness, call out to God.

He says "When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen. when you come looking for me, you'll find me." -Jer. 29:13-14

God created us in his image. We are beautiful, we are his children!

We are loved, We are worth it, We are strong enough, We are qualified! God says, his strength is made perfect on our weakness! During those times of struggle and self doubt God intercedes on our behalf!

Our identity is in Christ. Everything we do is for His glory, not our own or anyone elses. So the only person whos opinion should matter, is Gods.

"For I know the plan I have for you , declares the Lord. -plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for." Jer. 29:12

Who or what defines you? Your job? what your parents think? What your friends think? How much money you have or make? Is it how skinny you are or not?

When that day comes and we meet Jesus face to face will any of those things matter?

Lord,

Show me who I am to you. Take my fears and doubts away, and refill me with your love and grace. In Jesus name, Amen
