Has your faith started to feel more complicated than it used to? You are not alone. Many believers find themselves adding more and more to their walk with God, chasing experiences, following new teachings, or looking to outside sources for answers, only to feel further from the peace they were promised. This message from Galatians 3 cuts straight to the heart of that struggle.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the churches of Galatia after new teachers convinced them that faith in Jesus was not enough. They were told they also needed to follow the Jewish law. Paul pushed back hard, pointing to Abraham as the clearest example that righteousness has always come through faith alone. Abraham believed God, and that belief was credited to him as righteousness, long before the law existed. The blessing God promised to Abraham was always meant to extend to all nations, and it came through Christ, not through rule-keeping.
Jesus accomplished on the cross what no human effort ever could. He took on the curse of the law so that we would not have to bear it. The terms and conditions of salvation come down to one word: Jesus. No fine print. No added requirements.
But the temptation to add to Jesus is still very real today. Research shows that a significant number of Christians in America hold beliefs in things like astrology, reincarnation, or spiritual energy through objects like crystals. Others are shaped by spiritual teachings that sound Christian but cannot be found in Scripture. And sometimes the additions are not spiritual at all. A relationship or a job can quietly take the place of Christ's authority in our lives when we start protecting those things at the cost of our obedience to Him.
Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Every teaching that claims God's authority must be tested against His Word. If we are not in Scripture ourselves, we are vulnerable to being misled, even by well-meaning people.
The encouraging truth is that no matter how far someone has drifted or how complicated their faith has become, the way back is always open. It does not require earning anything or discovering something new. It simply means coming back to Jesus.
